Kimberley founded WāVv over 15 years ago.  WāVv is a strategic consulting company specializing in the transfer of commercialized technology from one industry and implementing it in another. Industries of focus are Aerospace, Defence, & Security, Energy, Tech, Military, Mining.

Brad Robson

Brad enjoys working with teams to deliver innovative solutions from diverse ideas. He supports the growth of local and global companies to partner with innovative small & medium businesses in creating commercial opportunities. Having served in executive leadership positions for companies such as GE, HP, CGI, and WāVv / ConvergX®, that experience provides for strong competence in the areas of security, intelligence, government relations, energy, defence, aerospace and technology sectors.

His drive to accelerate shared solutions for common problems relies on diversification and attraction of industries and investment. Engaging with his clients to access those new supply chains is the cornerstone of his approach.  

His entrepreneurial mindset fosters team collaboration and experimentation to deliver solutions. None of that could be accomplished without the support of the many government, professional, and personal networks as well as membership in industry associations at home and abroad.

Brad received his degree in Sports Medicine from the University of North Texas before moving back home to Calgary. He currently serves in volunteer positions and as a strategic advisor to a variety of companies and philanthropic organizations.

Gordon B. “Skip” Davis Jr.

NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General Defence Investment Division

Gordon B. “Skip” Davis Jr – Skip is NATO’s Deputy Assistant Secretary General for the Defense Investment Division. He previously served as Director of Operations, U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany, Commander of Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan, and as Director of Operations and Intelligence for SHAPE in Mons, Belgium, before retiring from the U.S. Army as a Major General.  Skip’s professional life has been characterized by operational and institutional military assignments interspersed with study and practice of international affairs and defense issues, primarily in Europe.  Most of Skip’s career has been dedicated to NATO and European defense, including numerous assignments and operations with U.S., NATO, and UN forces in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Central Asia.  Skip brings an unusual depth of practical experience and conceptual understanding of contemporary and emerging defense issues as well as executive-level experience in operations, intelligence, leader development, capability development, and policy development.  Skip holds an undergraduate degree in nuclear physics and graduate degrees in international business, defense and military history, and strategic studies.

Jody Thomas

Deputy Minister Department National Defence

Jody Thomas has spent more than 30 years in Canada’s public service, leading on
increasingly complex operational, defence and security files including at Passport
Canada, the Privy Council Office, and the Canadian Coast Guard, where she served as
Commissioner. She joined National Defence as Senior Associate Deputy Minister of
Defence in early 2017, and has served as Deputy Minister of National Defence since
October 2017. Ms. Thomas is a Naval Reserve veteran and holds a Bachelor of Arts
from Carleton University.

Dr. Donna Dulo

Dr. Donna A. Dulo is a mathematician and computer scientist who specializes in aviation and space systems software safety and security. She is also a legal writer in the field of drone law. She spent 32 years in the Dept. of Defense in both military and civilian capacities. She is currently at Sofia University where she has served as a program chair and a director, where she developed the computer science program. Her book on drone law, published by the American Bar Association is a top selling law and technology book. She also publishes extensively in drone law and aviation technology. She has graduate degrees from the US Naval War College, The US Naval Postgraduate School, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, City University, and the Monterey College of Law. Donna lives in Monterey, CA.

Leah LaSalle

CEO Astral AR and CTO Wallbreakers


Leah La Salla is the Technical Founder & CEO of Astral AR, a technology startup in Austin Texas that builds unbiased public safety solutions for uniformed first responders that utilize patented AI and sensors to detect guns and stop bullets.

La Salla spent much of her free time in high school working in her aviation engineer dad’s super precision toolanddie machine shop in the Chicago area. After studying CAD Design in college, La Salla gained fifteen years experience in software engineering (including five years as a Federal government employee) while teaching herself to program in an additional 9 languages. She’s worked on a wide range of technically unusual products including fabrication application development, industrial printing, and more conventional app development and app security.
Since being at the helm of Astral AR, La Salla and her company have won numerous awards including the 2018 Audience Choice Award at Google NYC’s Women Startup Challenge, and named as a Top 25 Venture by the SheEO foundation. La Salla has also served as a Tech Panelist at Harvard’s Undergraduate Women’s Intercollegiate Business Convention at Harvard Science Center. For the last two years La Salla’s team’s peerreviewed papers have been accepted and presented at IEEE’s yearly Global Humanitarian Technology Conference.

Kristy-Leigh Minehan

Formerly of Core Scientific, Genesis Mining and others, Minehan has spent ten years building up cryptocurrency mining infrastructure for multiple countries and companies; writing mining and management software; and contributing to the design and implementation of various proof-of-work algorithms. Now an advisor and independent consultant for America’s top technology companies on advancements in the fields of AI and Blockchain, Minehan spends her free time lecturing on the nuances of the mining industry and the hidden optimizations available at each part of the stack. She serves as Chief Product Officer for Ernst Leitz Labs, a Leica Camera subsidiary working on computational imaging technologies; and the CTO for NEM Symbol, a hybrid blockchain built for enterprise needs.


Laura McGee

Laura McGee is the founder and CEO of Diversio, a Toronto-based technology company that uses data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence to help companies measure, track and improve diversity & inclusion. In 2017, Laura was named as one of Canada’s Top 25 Women of Influence.

Laura had also spent her career at McKinsey & Company advising private and public sector clients on talent strategy, including diversity & inclusion. Mark Blue

Founder & President MSB Technologies LLC

Mr. Mark Blue is the founder and president of MSB Technologies LLC, a consulting firm committed to the development of technology startups and small businesses.

Prior to MSB Technologies, Mark spent 31 years as a Senior Systems Engineer and Commercial Manager within the Space & Intelligence Segment of L3Harris Technologies.  His responsibilities included the development of technology roadmaps, product management, market penetration and intellectual property strategies in the Space, Energy and Maritime industries. Some of the leadership roles Mark held include Program Management, Chief Systems Engineer, Project Engineer, and Advanced Concept Engineer. His technical background includes mechanism and structural design, systems architecture and process development. Mark is named as an inventor on 18 US patents. Mark honorably served as a reserve officer in the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps. He retired as the Executive Officer of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 14 after 21 years of service. His career included assignments as the Central American Contingency Engineer for US Southern Command. Here he oversaw array of projects across Central America, South America and the Caribbean supporting counternarcotic, human trafficking and humanitarian assistance programs. Mark was recalled to active duty in 2003 and served on the staff of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Engineer Group as the Equipment and Movement Control Officer.

Mark is heavily involved as a mentor for the National Science Foundation’s iCorps Program at the University of Central Florida (UCF); a program designed to foster and grow technology companies from ideation through to success. Mark is a member on the Advisory Board for 3 startup enterprises from the iCorps program. It was this experience that prompted Mark to establish MSB Technologies.

Outside work, Mark volunteers his time as the Past President of the NMCB14 Alumni Association (501c.19), Vice Chair of the UCF College of Engineering and Computer Science Alumni Board, NSF iCorps Mentor and is working on a startup with friends from the iCorps program.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and Master’s Degrees in Industrial Engineering and Business Administration; all from the University of Central Florida.

 

 

Carl Weatherell

Shondell Sabad

Shondell is currently CFO for an international mining investment company and has previously worked at TD Energy, Sempra Energy, Mirant America’s Energy Trading, TransCanada Energy and Shell Canada.  

Shondell has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Finance (HONS), is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charter-holder and Past President of the Calgary CFA Society.  Mr. Sabad has served as a board member for public, private and volunteer boards.

Dr. Monique Simair

Monique Simair has a doctorate in microbiology, a post-doctoral specialization in biogeochemistry, and decade of experience in founding and growing businesses. Dr. Simair is an innovator and leader in the field of mine water treatment and management. With experience in both active and passive/semi-passive treatment, she is best known for her work with biogeochemical water treatment including constructed wetlands, bioreactors, and in situ treatment such as pit lakes, underground mine pools, and tailings ponds.

Dr. Simair has been named as Canada’s 2021 Eco Impact Award Winner, by Profit Magazine as one of Canada’s future entrepreneurial leaders, to Chatelaine’s W100 Women Entrepreneurs, and the University of Saskatchewan Alumni of Influence. She was the youngest person appointed as an advisor to Canada’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Council, advising Canada’s Minister of Industry, and has also served as an Adjunct Professor in Canada and the US. Jerrod Downey

Jerrod Downey is the President of Crownsmen Partners and hosts three heavy industry series; The Crownsmen Show, Crownsmen Energy, and Mining Now. Jerrod began his career in construction, running a small home exterior and railing manufacturing company, later transitioning into business development and marketing for Savona Equipment. In 2015 he partnered with investor, childhood friend and now Crownsmen’s Executive Producer Rory Bamford to form a boutique consulting firm and in 2018 they launched The Crownsmen Show which featured some of North America’s leading equipment and technology companies. Seta Afshordi

COO, Proton Technologies

Seta Afshordi believes that a new clean energy era is overdue, and that this change should come from inside the oil and gas industry.

Seta began her career with Schlumberger as a field engineer and explosives officer, working in Scotland and Oman. She moved to Calgary in 2008 where she worked on a variety of heavy oil projects for Husky, CNRL, Athabasca, and Murphy Oil. Project types include SAGD, CSS, polymer flooding, THAI, and now The Proton Process (hydrogen).

Seta has a Master’s Degree from Chalmer’s University of Technology in Sweden in Environmentally Sustainable Process Technologies, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from prestigious Sharif University in Tehran. Seta spent 10 years as a National Badminton Champion for both Iran and Sweden.

Miss Afshordi began working for Proton mid-2017 as Operations Manager and rose to become COO of Proton Technologies Canada Inc., whose corporate vision of worldwide transition from fossil energy to clean energy aligns with hers.

Caroline Saunders

She was Deputy Consul-General and Head of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) in Brisbane, Australia and Political and Media Officer at the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur. She has also worked at UKTI in London on trade strategy and for the UN Conference on Disarmament negotiations on chemical and biological weapons. Her first overseas posting was as Development Attache at the British High Commission in New Delhi.

 

Mark Rabin
